Patricia A. Curtin is Professor and SOJC Endowed Chair in Public Relations in the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon, Eugene. Previously, she was Associate Professor and Director of the Ph.D. Program at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She received her master’s and doctoral degrees from The University of Georgia after 13 years of corporate and agency work.
Curtin serves on the editorial boards of two public relations journals. A past head of the Public Relations Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, she is the author of over 50 refereed research papers and co-author of a book outlining a critical-cultural approach to international public relations.
She has given numerous professional seminars and presentations on public relations and intercultural communications topics. An avid traveler, she recently sailed around the world as a faculty member on the Spring 2005 voyage of Semester at Sea, a shipboard experiential-learning program.
